researched. "ALS" indicates Autograph Letter Signed meaning not only
the signature, but the body text of the letter is also in the
signer's handwriting. "LS" indicates Letter Signed meaning that the
body text of the letter was written by another hand but is autograph
signed by the sender. "DS" indicates Document Signed meaning that
the primary text is a formal document (usually printed in part)
which has been signed in an official capacity.
