Item:  BSL - Robert Louis Stevenson

Robert Louis (Balfour) Stevenson

(1850 1894)
Scottish novelist, poet, and travel writer, a leading representative of Neo-romanticism in English literature.

Scarce Full Signature of "Treasure Island" Author

Scottish author of Kidnapped, Treasure Island and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. An excellent full signature on a card. Stevenson's autograph is generally available only on a form of bank check from Samoa, which he typically signed "R. L. Stevenson", and the signature was often shaky because he was ill and dying. These checks are often canceled as well. This signature is the finest possible example for display purposes, and very rare in this form.

Document Specifications:  This is an autograph on piece of thick smooth card stock signed "Robert Louis Stevenson" and measuring 3" wide and 2 5/8" tall. The card has a penciled lotting notation on the reverse
